7. Faculty Credentials

Return to: Faculty Handbook Home

Faculty are to submit the following documents to the Provost:

  • Official transcripts for all post-secondary degrees received from each of the institution(s). Transcripts are not required from institutions that have transferred credits to the degree granting institution. If a graduate-level degree is non-relevant to the instructor’s teaching requirement, exceptions may be approved by the Department Chair.
    • If a degree from a foreign institution was received, an independent evaluation must be completed to translate into U.S. equivalency, with any fees involved being the responsibility of the employee. Refer to the Academic Administration Office for an approved list of evaluation agencies.
    • Any expenses involved in obtaining official transcripts are the responsibility of the employee.
  • Current Curriculum Vitae identifying employment with ADU and yearly in May thereafter. (See Appendix D .)
  • Current certification and/or licensure in the professional field when such certification and/or licensure are appropriate.
    • Where professional certification and/or licensure, either state or national are required, the full cost of such fee is reimbursable to the faculty member. Additionally, when such credentials are attained subsequent to their appointment, faculty members may request reimbursement for the cost of credentialing examinations following successful completion and with approval from the Provost. The responsibility for determining the need for licensure and/or certification rests with the Department Chair.
    • All faculty are expected to have academic credentials and professional experience appropriate to University-level teaching. Education for faculty should yield credit appropriate to the individual’s next highest degree. Continuing education credit may be pursued in addition to academic credit or in place of such credit when the course is necessary for continued certification and/or licensure.
    • Copies of updated credentials, certificates, and/or licenses are to be submitted to the Office of Academic Administration.
