Return to: Faculty Addendum Home

8.1 Dismissal

A faculty member may be dismissed at any time for illegal practices, moral turpitude, mental incompetence, or acts of disrespect to the Christian values of the university.

Note that unused vacation days are not paid out at separation of employment.

8.2 Resignation

Faculty must notify their Department Chair or Provost with a minimum of four weeks.

They must also submit an electronic notice of resignation through the HUB.

The faculty member is required to work during the notice time.  Vacation days may not be used in lieu of notice of resignation or during the minimum notification period (four weeks), or to extend employment beyond the separation date.  See full Faculty Vacation Policy for information regarding vacation days and resignation.

8.3 Retirement

The faculty retirement policy is that policy established by AdventHealth for all of its employees. Faculty who have had denominational employment prior to the 1992-1993 academic year retain certain rights in the Seventh-day Adventist Retirement Plan and should confer with the Benefits Manager of AdventHealth Human Resources Department regarding those rights.
