Regard for Human Life and Safety
AdventHealth University believes that at the core of who we are is the belief in a loving, creating, and redeeming God. As his children, we are all the recipients of his care and are the objects of his saving power. This fact gives great value to each of us. It is out of this knowledge that self-worth grows and is the basis for the respect extended to every person. This value also calls each of us to a high level of integrity and honesty in our dealings with self and others. Therefore, activities of any student on or off campus which threatens or endangers the lives or safety of another student, faculty, staff or the community member at large will result in dismissal from the University.
Examples of such activities are:
- Bringing firearms or other lethal weapons onto any University property,
- Making threating statements (verbally or online) which indicate a desire to cause harm to another person(s),
- Bringing drugs or being complicit in allowing drugs to be brought onto any University Property (see complete Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drug Policy),
- Inviting non-student guests into student housing without proper authorization.
- Engaging in or promoting physical altercations at the University or the community at large.
Keeping our campus safe is everyone’s responsibility; therefore, it is incumbent on every student to report violations that endanger students’ lives or safety. Students who knowingly withhold this type of information will be held accountable and face disciplinary actions.
Convocation
Students, faculty, and staff of AdventHealth University come together and celebrate the heritage of the institution, as they set the tone for the beginning of a new school year. Attendance is required. All students receive e-mail invitations, classroom announcements, and can refer to posters and handouts around campus and on the University website with additional details for this event.
