DSTA 205 - Introduction to Applied Statistics (3) Online course available only for the students enrolled in online degrees. Prerequisite: Two semesters of high school algebra with a minimum grade of “B” (3.00) or a college-level math course with a minimum grade of “C”(2.00). This course is an introduction to statistics and its applications. It is designed to prepare students to interpret and evaluate statistics and statistical methods used in published research papers and to make decisions about the appropriateness of specific statistical methods in a variety of settings. Areas of emphasis will include descriptive statistics; analysis of graphs; sampling methods; binomial, z, t, and chi-square; confidence intervals; and hypothesis testing. This course will not fulfill the statistics requirement for Bachelor of Science degrees from the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences, nor will it fulfill the prerequisite requirements for graduate degrees.
