Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education

Program Description 

AdventHealth University’s (AHU) Online Graduate Certificate Program in Nursing Education is designed for nurses looking to expand their expertise and skills in the design and delivery of nursing education. The program meets the needs of complex healthcare settings in the current, globalized world. Courses can be completed 100% online…anytime, anywhere.

The Mission of AHU is to develop skilled nurse leaders who will practice healthcare as a ministry and while living the healing values of Christ.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Applicants seeking admission to the certificate program must:

  1. Be able to speak in a clear and concise manner.

  2. Have communication abilities sufficient to interact professionally with others in verbal and written form.

  3. Possess critical thinking skills sufficient to think clearly and act appropriately in stressful situations.

  4. Possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with individuals, families, and groups from a variety of social, emotional, cultural, and intellectual backgrounds.

Admission Requirements

Candidates for the program must have previously graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution of their residence/country and hold a current, unencumbered RN license to apply to the program. To apply to the program, candidates must:

  1. Apply at online.ahu.edu/apply and submit $20 application fee

  2. Have a minimum GPA of 3.00 or equivalent

  3. Submit a current resume

  4. Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended

Progression

Progression through the program anticipates that the student will:

  1. Repeat only one MSN course (including core courses) for any reason, (including withdrawals).

  2. Earn a grade of B or higher in each course.

  3. Complete within 15 months of acceptance into the certificate program.

Completion

AdventHealth University will consider students for graduation and conferral of a Graduate Certificate in Education in Nursing when the general requirements for graduation are met (see Graduation in the “Academic Information” section in the Academic Catalog) and when:  

  1. Completion of a minimum of 10 trimester hours of applicable credits

  2. Completion of the prescribed course of study for the degree with a minimum nursing GPA of 3.0 and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

  3. Achievement of a minimum grade of “B” (3.0) in each nursing course.
