Robotic Surgery, M.S. (MSRS)

Program Description 

This online degree will provide students with the robotic training and education needed to enhance surgical knowledge, research, and techniques as it relates to robotic surgery and robotic surgery skill acquisition. Building upon the robotic training delivered by AdventHealth Nicholson Center, the program provides knowledge, skills, and core competencies in strategic leadership, innovation in the healthcare system, information systems and healthcare informatics, along with mission focused course work. 

Admission Requirements

  1. Submit an application online and nonrefundable $50 fee.

  2. Present current official transcripts from all undergraduate and/or graduate institutions attended. Admission GPAs will be calculated based on credits and grades from regionally accredited institutions only. Transcripts must be mailed or delivered electronically to the Office of Admissions from each institution attended. Transcripts will be considered official only when received directly from the institution and not hand-delivered by the applicant or faxed by the institution attended. Failure to disclose all colleges previously attended could result in denial or dismissal. Additionally, transcripts from institutions outside the United States must be evaluated by approved credential evaluation companies. Please see Foreign Transcript Evaluations for more information. 

  3. Present a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale

  4. Submit Certificate of Completion from the Certificate in Advanced Robotic Surgery, issued by AdventHealth Nicholson Center.    

  5. Submit a copy of current licensure as a Medical Doctor (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), or physician equivalent.

Reapplication Process

Applicants who are not admitted to the Master of Science in Robotic Surgery (MSRS) program during a specific admission cycle may reapply to the program for the next admission cycle as long as they have successfully met the minimum admission requirements. Re-applicants are expected to meet the published admission deadlines by submitting the following additional information to the Office of Admissions.

  1. Submit an application online with a non-refundable $50 reactivation fee.

  2. Updated official transcripts from any accredited institutions attended since the original application was submitted.

  3. Provide an updated resume

Progression

In the MSRS program, students will be deemed to be making continuous satisfactory progress toward the MSRS degree when they complete all scheduled program courses with a grade of “B” (3.0) or better on a 4.0 grade point scale.

Readmission 

Students are considered for readmission to the Health and Biomedical Science (HBS) program when they meet admission requirements and: 

  • Readmission is not automatic and is contingent on available class space and the discretion of the Department Chair.

Students will be readmitted under new academic catalog program policies. Eligible students will be considered for readmission to the program when they complete the following: 

  • Submit a Readmission Form to the Health and Biomedical program Chair eight weeks before the trimester in which seeking admission. 
  • Undergo a faculty review of prior academic performance, including reason(s) for withdrawal or dismissal, along with evidence of the applicant’s efforts to strengthen areas of weakness. 

Completion

AdventHealth University will consider students for graduation with a MSRS degree when they have:

  1. Met the general requirements for the MSRS degree

  2. Completed all required courses in the MSRS curriculum with grades of “B” (3.0) or better.

  3. Completed all required courses in the MSRS curriculum within 72 months of their acceptance into the program

Completion of the MSRS Program is achieved with the successful completion of the below 24 credit hours in conjunction with the 8 credit hours through the Certificate in Advanced Robotic Surgery (CARS), with a minimum GPA of a 3.0.
