PHTH 860 - Patient/Client Management: Pediatric (2)
Prerequisites: Successful completion of all DPT Program coursework in prior terms. This course emphasizes the provision of physical therapy services to pediatric patients who present with diseases, conditions, and/or syndromes impacting typical development and their families in a manner consistent with family-centered care. Medical management, including pharmacological agents and radiologic/imaging studies, for selected pathologies are also discussed. The application and integration of evidence-based physical therapy practice for the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, interventions, and outcome measurements for use with children with these needs/disabilities are discussed in the lecture and demonstrated and selectively practiced in the lab. This course also encourages critical thinking skills and clinical decision-making.
