General Description

This program allows certified radiographers, who have graduated from a regionally accredited program, to acquire additional education and experience in angiography. Successful completion of the program prepares students for entry level positions in angiography.

Criteria for Admission

1. Overall GPA of 2.5 or greater in all previous college coursework.

2. The applicant must hold current registration in Radiography, Radiologic Technology, Radiologic Sciences, or Nuclear Medicine Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

3. The applicant must have graduated from an accredited program approved by the JRCERT and have passed the ARRT certificate exam.

4. Clinical placement is not guaranteed on admission to the program. Clinical placements require acceptance by the affiliated medical facility after an interview, criminal background check and review of applicant qualifications by each medical facility affiliate. Students are required to spend a specified number of hours a week (specific to clinical education course - see below) in order to satisfactorily pass all clinical competencies identified for each assigned internship.

Program Objectives

• Provide continuing education for licensed Radiologic Technology Professionals (RTs) at the university level.
• Provide access for professionals to use their mandated continuing education requirements to complete a certificate program.
• Provide advanced Radiologic Technology imaging education to promote excellence in the health care environment.
• Provide advanced imaging course work in computer applications, angiographic imaging, physics and cross-sectional anatomy.
• Provide advanced clinical internships through placements at the Radiologic Sciences program’s affiliate medical centers.
• Prepare the student for new employment in the angiographic imaging field or adds these responsibilities to current employment.
• Prepare and qualify the student to sit for the national advanced imaging vascular interventional certification examination.

Licensure Status

All students in the program are required to maintain a current license with the ARRT or NMTCB in good standing throughout their course of studies.  Any changes in licensure status must be documented by submitting a copy of your current license.  The Program reserves the right to request updated evidence of licensure status at any time.  If at any time you become unlicensed for any reason, or if you are obligated to surrender licensure in any jurisdiction for disciplinary reasons, you must inform us of your change of status.  This notification must occur immediately if you are currently participating in a course, or at the time of registration for your next course.  Please be aware that we are obligated to report any attempts at misrepresenting your licensure status to appropriate regulatory agencies.

Students may progress in the Advanced Imaging Certificate Program when they:

  1. Have a current ARRT or NMTCB license in good standing prior to any Advanced Imaging Certificate Program course
  2. Earn a grade of at least “C” (2.00) in each Advanced Imaging Certificate course and maintain a minimum program GPA of 2.50
  3. Earn a grade of at least “C” (2.00) in each cognate course
  4. Repeat successfully all courses in which the minimum grade of “C” (2.00) was not achieved.  No more than two courses may be repeated.
