Graduate Certificate in Driving Innovation in Healthcare

Program Description

The Driving Innovation in Healthcare Graduate Certificate in the Healthcare Administration department is a fully online education experience and designed to give current and future healthcare administrators a baseline from which to grow their skills as leaders. This certificate program is designed to develop innovative leaders in a higher education environment who will generate novel, useful change. This program will be highly interactive for participants who seek to build competency in design thinking and innovation fundamentals, both professionally and personally. When we innovate, we solve problems and affect change. This certificate is available to anyone desiring to earn an accredited certificate in innovation and leadership. This includes students, leaders, and practitioners.

  1. Analyze strategies for creative innovation, including product and pedagogical design.

  2. Apply effective strategies for designing innovative projects in collaboration with team members to develop an effective innovative product, project, or practice.

  3. Apply the design of the creative process to educational experiences and the creative endeavor generally.

  4. Demonstrate knowledge and the basic vocabulary of creativity study.

  5. Apply disruptive theories to complex problems and opportunities. 

Mental and Physical Requirements

Applicants seeking admission to the certificate program must:

  • Be able to speak in a clear and concise manner.
  • Have communication abilities sufficient to interact professionally with others in verbal and written form.
  • Possess critical thinking skills sufficient to think clearly and act appropriately in stressful situations.
  • Possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with individuals, families, and groups from a variety of social, emotional, cultural, and intellectual backgrounds.
Admission Requirements

Students who have been accepted into AHU will be eligible to enroll in any of the Certificate’s courses and will receive college credit for each completed course.  Individuals desiring to enroll in any Innovative Leadership Healthcare Certificate course, and who are not currently enrolled in AHU be eligible to complete the courses as a non-degree seeking student.

  1. Apply at online.ahu.edu/apply and submit $20 application fee
  2. Have a minimum GPA of 3.00

  3. Submit a current resume

  4. Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended


Progression through Driving Innovation in Healthcare Graduate Certificate Program anticipates that the student will:

  1. Repeat only one certificate course for any reason (including withdrawals).
  2. Earn a grade of B or higher in each course.

  3. Maintain employment in a healthcare related field.


AdventHealth University will consider students for graduation with a Driving Innovation in Healthcare Graduate Certificate when they have:

  1. Completion of a minimum of 15 trimester hours of applicable credits.

  2. Completed all required courses in the certificate program with grades of “B” (3.0) or better.

  3. Completed all required courses in the Certificate Program curriculum within 12 months of their acceptance into the program.
