NRSG 130 - Fundamentals of Nursing (3)

Prerequisites: BIOL 101 , ENGL 101 , MATH 103 , PSYC 128  
Corequisite: NRSG 105  

Admission to the Nursing Program.
This is the first trimester of a two-trimester course. The course introduces students to the profession of nursing, the Neuman Systems Model, and the nursing process. Students will develop critical thinking and communication skills necessary for the practice of nursing. Additionally, the course will focus on the application of the nursing process in the provision of primary and secondary prevention related to environmental stressors. Students will identify basic stressors affecting the variables of the adult patient in the long-term care environment. The course will provide opportunities for ASN students to learn the nursing procedures and psychomotor skills necessary in providing care to individuals throughout the life span. This course includes 2.5 credit hours of theory (37 clock hours), 0.5 credit of lab (23 clock hours), and one credit hour of clinical (45 clock hours).
