3.1 Statement of Ownership
AdventHealth University - a wholly owned subsidiary of Adventist Health Systems (doing business as AdventHealth Orlando) - is operated by the University Board of Trustees. The University Board elects University Trustees for appointment to the Board subject to ratification by the membership.
The University Board of Trustees is authorized to oversee the educational programs of the University.

AdventHealth University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award Certificates, Associate’s, Baccalaureate, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees. The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) is the accrediting agency that protects the interest of the public and PA profession by defining the standards for PA education and evaluating PA educational programs within the territorial United States to ensure their compliance with those standards.
ARC-PA Accreditation Status
At its July 2017 meeting, the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) placed the AdventHealth University Physician Assistant program, sponsored by AdventHealth University, on Accreditation-Probation status until its next review in June 2019.
Probation is a temporary status of accreditation conferred when a program does not meet the Standards and when the capability of the program to provide an acceptable educational experience for its students is threatened.
Once placed on probation, programs that still fail to comply with accreditation requirements in a timely manner, as specified by the ARC-PA, may be scheduled for a focused site visit and/or risk having their accreditation withdrawn.

The AdventHealth University (AHU) Physician Assistant program has been, and remains, accredited. AHU is also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award Certificates, Associate’s, Baccalaureate’s, Master’s, and a Doctoral degree. As such, the pursuit of academic excellence continues to be the primary objective of the program faculty and the University administration.
The reasons for placing AHU on accreditation probation status pertains to administrative and assessment standards. While we are disappointed with the probationary status, students will be reassured to know:
- The content and quality of the curricular instruction is not in question.
- This does not affect currently enrolled, admitted, and prospective students on their journey toward program completion.
- Students can continue to apply, matriculate, graduate, take board examinations, obtain state licensing, and practice medicine.
The program and University administration have initiated an intensive plan of action to immediately address the accreditors’ concerns. We are confident that the corrective measures being implemented will meet or exceed the accreditation standards of the ARC-PA ultimately lifting the probationary status. Effective November 11, 2015, AdventHealth University (AHU) has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (1111 North Fairfax St., Alexandria, VA 22314; phone 703-706-3245; email: firstname.lastname@example.org). Candidate for Accreditation is a pre-accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates that the program is progressing toward accreditation and may matriculate students in professional courses. Candidate for Accreditation is not an accreditation status nor does it assure eventual accreditation.

3.4 Administration of the University

Chairman of the University Board of Trustees
The Chairman of the University Board of Trustees is elected by the members of the AdventHealth Orlando Board.
President of the University
The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the University and is responsible to the University Board of Trustees for all phases of the University’s operation. The President chairs all business sessions of the President’s Council and is an ex-officio member of all standing and ad hoc committees. In consultation with other University administrators, the President is responsible for recommending an annual budget to the University Board of Trustees and for the approval of all expenditures provided for in that budget. The President also recommends to the Board an annual professional salary schedule for all University Faculty. As CEO, the President leads in the planning and execution of the institution’s strategic vision.
The Provost is responsible to the University President for the supervision and direction of all academic activities at the University. The Provost chairs the Academic Policies Committee and all Graduate Department Chairs report directly to the Provost on all academic matters.
Senior Vice President for Finance
The Senior Vice President is responsible to the University President for the financial operations of the University including, but not limited to, student accounts, financial aid, and University financial records. This individual is responsible to the President for the day-to-day operational needs of the institution. The responsibilities of this position include the physical plant, maintenance, and environmental services. This individual is also responsible for the information technology department, the University bookstore, and the N.E.S.S. café.
Senior Vice President for Student Services
The Senior Vice President for Student Services is responsible to the President for the overall quality of student life on campus. This individual has administrative responsibility for student discipline, student housing, alumni, security, transportation, and general student services.
Vice President for Marketing & Public Relations
The Vice President for Marketing & Public Relations is responsible to the President for the marketing to and recruitment of new students. In addition, this individual oversees Enrollment Management and public relations for the University.
Vice President for Educational Technology and Innovation
The Vice President for Educational Technology is responsible to the Provost for Academic Affairs for the direction of the online education programs as well as coordinating the educational technology at the University.
Vice President for Academic Administration
The Vice President for Academic Administration is responsible to the Provost for the supervision and direction of all undergraduate educational activities of the University. All undergraduate Department Chairs report to this individual. The Vice President is also responsible for handling student academic issues and appeals, acting as liaison with the Forest Lake Health Academy and overseeing the dual enrollment program. In addition, Registrar’s Office and the Library report to this individual.
Assistant to the President for Mission
The Assistant to the President for Mission is responsible to the University President to oversee the Institute for Healthcare as Ministry, Convocation, Colloquium and Pulse Week. The Chaplains report to the Assistant to the President.
Chief Operations Officer for Online Education
The Chief Operations Officer for Online Education is responsible to the President to develop and implement short and long-range strategic plans to advance the University’s mission in online learning. The Chief Operations Officer for Online Education is also responsible for advising and collaborating with the Provost and other members of the AHU academic team on development, implementation, and delivery of all online courses and programs.
Chief Compliance Officer
The Chief Compliance Officer is responsible to the President to oversee institutional compliance with Federal and State regulations including Title IX sexual anti-discrimination and Campus SaVE Act anti-violence federal laws.
Human Resources Business Partner
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible to the President to align business objectives with employees and management in order to develop integrated solutions. The HRBP serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues while also acting as an employee champion and change agent.
