NRSG 125 - Fundamentals in Nursing (3.5)

Prerequisites: BIOL 101 , ENGL 101 MATH 103 PSYC 128  
Corequisite: NRSG 125C , NRSG 125L 
This course introduces Student Learning Outcomes of the nursing curriculum upon which all other nursing courses are built. The student is introduced to the following outcomes: caring, communication, critical thinking, ethical/moral, lifelong learning, and professional expertise as they apply to the role of the nurse. This course provides for the acquisition and application of fundamental skills essential to nursing practice, including those related to patient-centered care, the healthcare environment, and professional nursing practice.  Emphasis is placed on healthcare delivery, promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness.  Clinical Experiences include opportunity to begin to apply concepts and competencies learned in the classroom and nursing laboratory. The successful completion of this course requires successful completion of the co-requisite laboratory and the clinical components. This course will have 3.5 cr hr didactic (52.5 clock hours).
