BSCT 430 - Translating Data Using GIS (2)

Prerequisites: BSCT 328
This course is restricted to students officially accepted into Data Analytics academic offerings, including approved programs, minors, or certificates.

Building on the foundational skills learned in BSCT 326 , this capstone course delves deeper into the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for interpreting, visualizing, and communicating complex data. Students will gain advanced knowledge in using ArcGIS StoryMaps to create interactive digital narratives that transform large datasets into visually compelling and accessible stories. The course emphasizes equity, guiding students to identify, analyze, and present spatial patterns in ways that inform decision-making, engage public awareness, and support data-driven advocacy. Students will refine their skills in selecting appropriate datasets, conducting spatial analysis, and crafting narratives that provide actionable insights. By the end of the course, students will have a polished StoryMap project that demonstrates their ability to effectively communicate data and drive meaningful change through GIS technology.
